Bluey’s digital world brings New Farm Park to life in new video game
Local developers at Gameloft Brisbane have created a new video game that features New Farm Park and other iconic city landmarks. The title, Bluey’s Happy Snaps, launched later in 2026 to allow families to explore the world of the beloved Heeler family through a digital camera lens.
Manea Castet from Gameloft Brisbane confirmed that the game sends players on adventures to take Polaroid-style pictures around the city. Artists visited real locations like Southbank, Mount Coot-tha, and New Farm Park to sketch the scenes for the game.
Development and gameplay features
The game follows Bluey and Bingo as they find their Dad’s old camera and set off on a family trip. Players explore the family home and several locations to take pictures and create a scrapbook while uncovering surprises. According to 7NEWS, the full development team includes artists, concept artists, animators, programmers, designers, production and QA staff.
Gameloft Brisbane developed the game in close collaboration with Ludo Studio and BBC Studios. The project brings specific episodes to life, such as “The Sign” and “Ice Cream”. Developers transformed these familiar scenes into interactive environments for players to navigate. The game features “Co-op Play” where two players can share the adventure side-by-side.
One player leads the adventure behind the camera while the second player strikes a pose. The game is a premium experience with no in-game purchases and no online play. It is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
Historical context of the featured locations
New Farm Park has long served as a central gathering spot for the inner-north community. Its inclusion in the game highlights the suburb’s status as a key cultural landmark in Brisbane. The game specifically references the episode “The Sign”, which featured a stunning lookout view that became one of the show’s most memorable moments.
South Bank also features prominently in the game, drawing from the episode “Ice Cream”. In this scene, players can chase cheeky bin chickens, a nod to the area’s reputation for wildlife and family-friendly activities. The ferry to The Park, seen in the episode “Spy Game”, is another location that makes its video game debut in this title.
Mount Coot-tha provides a backdrop for the game’s exploration of nature and wildlife. The environment is brimming with Australian animals, from colourful lorikeets to adorable koalas. These species pose for their picture-perfect moment within the game, reflecting the real biodiversity found in Brisbane’s inner suburbs.
The connection between the show and the city runs deep. Bluey has become a global hit, with the series recognised as America’s most streamed television show last year. The video game industry represents an even larger market, with high stakes for the local development team. Gameloft Brisbane aimed to match the success of the TV show with this interactive release.
Community and economic impact
The release of Bluey’s Happy Snaps brings significant attention to local landmarks like New Farm Park. This digital exposure may encourage more families to visit these physical locations to recreate the scenes they see on screen. The game’s “Play for Real Life” activities are designed to support well-being and encourage families to create moments together after screen time ends.
Manea Castet stated that the team does not want the game to act like a “digital nanny”. Instead, the hope is that the game creates life-lasting memories for kids and parents. The developers designed the experience to foster natural curiosity and creativity in younger players. This approach aligns with the values of the original television series.
Local businesses in New Farm, Teneriffe, and Fortitude Valley may benefit from the increased visibility of the area. As families explore the digital versions of these suburbs, interest in the real-world locations could rise. The game acts as a promotional tool for the inner-city lifestyle that Brisbane is known for.
The project also highlights the strength of Brisbane’s creative industry. Gameloft Brisbane employed a large team of local talent to build the game. This demonstrates the city’s capability to produce world-class digital entertainment. The collaboration with Ludo Studio and BBC Studios further cements Brisbane’s role in the global media landscape.
Future outlook and availability
The game launched later in 2026 across multiple platforms. A physical retail version is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. Bandai Namco Entertainment partnered with Gameloft to distribute the physical copies across EMEA, ANZ, and the Americas.
Digital versions are available on all listed consoles and PC. The game supports multiple languages, including English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Brazilian Portuguese. Episodes of Bluey remain available to watch on CBeebies, BBC iPlayer, and Disney+.
Families can now access the game to experience the interactive adventures of Bluey and Bingo. The release marks a significant milestone for the local gaming sector and the suburbs of New Farm, Teneriffe, and beyond. The success of the title will depend on its ability to translate the show’s warmth and humour into a playable format.
