New Social Dining House Announced for Newstead Waterfront
A new social dining house is coming to the Quay Waterfront in Newstead. The Greenhouse is set to open its doors on Saturday 2 May, offering a fresh take on waterfront dining in the inner north.
The venue is backed by the team behind Stanton Brasserie and The Wolf in the CBD. It aims to blend architecture, nature, and fire-led dining into a single experience.
Design Inspired by Newstead’s Water and Greenery
Fabian Rebelo, CEO of the Rebelo Group, says the project was inspired by a desire to reflect the essence of Newstead. “The Greenhouse was inspired by a desire to create a space that truly reflects the essence of Newstead—its connection to water, greenery and lifestyle,” Rebelo said.
The design features curved arches and sculptural elements that blur the lines between inside and out. Unlike many venues embedded within the streetscape, this space opens outwards to embrace the river and parklands.
Rebelo noted that this contrast offers a unique sense of calm. “Most venues here are embedded within the streetscape, whereas The Greenhouse has the opportunity to open outwards, embracing water and nature as part of the experience,” he said.
Fire-Led Menu and European-Inspired Drinks
Executive chef Evan White, previously of MAYA and Penelope, will lead the kitchen. The menu leans on modern Australian dining with a focus on charcoal and woodfire cooking.
Highlights include slow-roasted rotisserie chicken, lamb designed for the table, and Napoli-style pizza cooked in a traditional oven. A gelato cart set within the surrounding parklands will offer a sweet finish for weekend visitors.
The drinks list carries a strong European influence with nods to France, Italy, and Spain. This is balanced with a selection of Australian and New Zealand producers.
Operating Hours and Booking Details
The Greenhouse will serve breakfast on weekends. Lunch will be available from Thursday through Sunday, with dinner service also on offer.
Bookings will open soon, but patrons can sign up for a waitlist now for a chance to win a complimentary dining experience. The venue is designed to shift from a relaxed day-time atmosphere to a more immersive evening setting.
Rebelo explained the evolution of the group’s approach. “With The Greenhouse, that thinking has evolved into something more experiential. It’s more open, more connected to its surroundings, and designed to change throughout the day,” he said.
From bar dining with a tapas-style offering to the private Water Terrace where guests can dine among ponds, the venue promises a dynamic experience. Long lunches on the waterfront are a quintessential part of the Brisbane experience, and this new destination aims to capture exactly why there is no better place to be.
