Better Off Red Brings an Immersive Feast to Brisbane Powerhouse

Immersive Crimson Feast Lands at Brisbane Powerhouse

An exclusive one-day long lunch titled Better Off Red is set to transform the Brisbane Powerhouse lawn this Sunday, 16 August. The event, curated by chefs Mimmo Miceli and Jake Nicholson, marks a new addition to the 2026 Night Feast program.

This immersive dining experience brings together the culinary teams from Bosco and Blackbird to create a menu of bold, crimson-hued dishes. The three-hour event promises a collision of food, art, and sensory performance, featuring live opera and theatrical spectacles alongside the meal.

A Menu of Crimson Flavour

Executive Chef Jake Nicholson from Blackbird and chef Mimmo Miceli from Pillioni have collaborated to design a shared dining menu. The feast includes specific morsels such as beetroot-cured salmon, chorizo glazed in hard cider, and rib-eye beef carved off the bone.

Guests will also enjoy wood-barbecued and cumin-spiced spring lamb, alongside heirloom carrots. The food is paired with flowing drinks, including wines from d’Arenberg, Campari, and Aperol cocktails. As reported by InDaily, the experience is designed to be entirely immersive, turning the riverside lawn into a theatrical celebration.

Part of the Night Feast Winter Season

Better Off Red is a standout offering within the fifth season of Night Feast, which runs from 29 July to 23 August. The festival has returned to Brisbane Powerhouse for its first-ever winter season, transforming the precinct into an after-dark playground of flavour and music.

While the main festival focuses on evening dining with over 20 restaurants, this specific lunch event offers a daytime counterpart. The Night Feast program includes new additions like Norté, bringing Latin American flavours, and Blackbird, serving its BFC fried chicken with quandong chilli caramel.

Other returning favourites include Burn City Smokers with their Peach Tea Glazed Pork Belly and Gelato Messina with their dessert theatrics. The festival also welcomes new names such as Poca Madre Mexicana and VICI Italian to the village.

Reserve Your Place

Tickets for the Better Off Red long lunch are priced at $269.00 per person. The event takes place at 12:00 pm on Sunday, 16 August at 119 Lamington Street, New Farm.

Organisers warn that this is a one-day-only event and advise diners to secure their spots before the experience sells out. The event is part of the Night Feast 2026 schedule, which is now in full swing across the Brisbane Powerhouse precinct.
