Calile Hotel Lands No. 83 on World’s 50 Best Hotels Longlist

The Calile Hotel on James Street in Fortitude Valley has landed at number 83 on the extended list of The World’s 50 Best Hotels 2026, covering positions 51 to 100. Broadsheet reports it is the only Australian hotel on that longlist.

A fourth year on the world list

New Zealand’s Huka Lodge in Taupo sits one place higher at number 82, and is the only other Oceania property on the longlist. Broadsheet notes the Calile ranked in the top 50 in last year’s edition, and AAP reports this is the fourth year the Fortitude Valley hotel has received the recognition.

Calile general manager Chris Kemlo told AAP the result reflects the “dedication and quiet consistency” of the hotel’s team. The full top 50 was announced on 15 September in Paris, where Capella Sydney ranked number 16 and was named the best hotel in Oceania.

A hotel built around Brisbane’s climate

The five-star Calile Hotel has a subtropical design, a 30-metre pool lined with gold tiles and six on-site restaurants, including the Greek restaurant Hellenika.
