Four Brisbane Coffee Spots Worth Finding, From Newstead to the Valley

Brisbane coffee is not short of places to start the day, but a few spots in Newstead and Fortitude Valley stand out for doing something a little different with the cup. Here are four worth knowing about, based on what the venues and local food media have published.

Newstead: roasters, self-serve taps and a shipping container

Toby’s Estate is at 1/33 Longland Street and is open from 6.30am to 2pm. The roastery is built around a central round coffee bar, with separate espresso, filter and training bars. Toby’s Estate says it serves more than 84 different kinds of coffee each year.

Single O has opened in Newstead as its first Brisbane site, and is described as Queensland’s first on-tap coffee counter. Customers pour their own coffee from self-serve taps.

Speed Dial is at 142 Breakfast Creek Road, in a converted shipping container outside Bunnings. It serves Coffee Supreme and pairs it with pastries from Sprout Artisan Bakery.

Fortitude Valley: coffee around the clock

Death Before Decaf is at Shop 3, 760 Brunswick Street, and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It serves Bellissimo Coffee, which makes it a rare option for anyone chasing a coffee well outside normal café hours.

Planning your Brisbane coffee run

Opening hours and menus can change, so check each venue before you head out. If you are making a morning of it, the three Newstead spots are close enough to combine into one trip.
