Baker Boy will headline the Brisbane Heat’s fifth New Year’s Bash at the Gabba on Friday, 1 January 2027, when the Heat take on the Hobart Hurricanes.

The Yolngu rapper, dancer and artist will play the pre-game show and a special performance as part of the StreetSmarts Half Time show. It will be his first performance for the club.
A Brisbane return for the ARIA winner
Baker Boy finished school at Shalom Christian College in Townsville, then attended the Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts in Brisbane. He won the 2022 ARIA Award for Album of the Year for Gela, and his latest album, Djandjay, was released on 10 October 2025.
Who has played the Bash before
He joins a line-up history that includes The Presets, Pnau, Peking Duk, Ball Park Music, Eves Karydas, Stace Cadet and KLP, and Example. The club has not yet released set times for Baker Boy.
Four more years of live music
The announcement came with news that the Heat and Ticketek Entertainment Group (TEG) have extended their partnership by four years. The deal guarantees live music on matchdays. TEG chief executive Cameron Hoy said the group has been part of Australian cricket for nearly five decades.
The club says tickets are selling fast for all Brisbane Heat home WBBL and BBL games this summer, and that the New Year’s Bash is one of its fastest-selling games to date. Heat general manager Pete Lock said: “We can’t wait to work with them again as we lock in world class entertainment events.”
