Green Beacon Teneriffe brewpub to close on 30 October

The last pour is set for 30 October

Green Beacon Teneriffe, the Helen Street brewpub that has been pouring craft beer since January 2013, will close at the end of this month. Asahi has confirmed the final day of trade is Friday 30 October.

Joshua Croall, General Manager of Green Beacon and Mountain Goat, called it a “difficult decision” and said staff were told several weeks ago. The company says it will have an update on the Green Beacon brand in due course.

What happens to the Green Beacon Teneriffe site

No reason for the closure has been given. A development application lodged by Frank Developments on 1 September proposes an eight-storey residential complex called Elena on the same site, although reports have not linked it to the decision. The Crafty Pint reports the site is set to be developed.

How the brewpub got here

Founders Marc Chrismas and Adrian Slaughter opened the Teneriffe brewpub in 2013. A larger production brewery opened in Geebung in 2017, and the business was sold to CUB in 2019 before becoming part of Asahi. In 2023 Asahi closed the Geebung brewery and moved production to Teneriffe, where brewing is shared with Pirate Life and 4 Pines.

One last pint?

If you want a final visit to Green Beacon Teneriffe, you have until Friday 30 October. Nothing has been announced about the future of the brand beyond that date.
