The Greenhouse Newstead Opens In Brisbane

The Greenhouse Newstead has officially opened its doors in the suburb of Newstead, offering a new all-day dining destination by the river. The latest venture from the Rebelo Group, the team behind Stanton and The Wolf, brings a sprawling riverside venue designed for casual, extended socialising.

Founded by Fabian Rebelo, the venue aims to blend architecture, nature, and dining into a single, effortless experience. Unlike typical enclosed restaurants, the space features curved architecture, reflective water features, and an open-air layout that keeps diners connected to the outdoors.

Architecture and Atmosphere

Stepping inside reveals a stark contrast to the dark, enclosed setups common in the city. Sunlight bounces off still ponds surrounding the Water Terrace, while greenery spills through the space to create a sense of calm.

Even on busy afternoons, the atmosphere remains relaxed. “We wanted to bring together architecture, nature and dining into one experience, something that feels effortless, but considered at every touchpoint,” says founder Fabian Rebelo.

The design encourages patrons to linger. The layout supports a natural flow where early breakfasts roll into working lunches, long afternoons become sunset drinks, and dinners stretch well past dessert. It is a space built for people who order another bottle without really discussing it first.

Fire-Driven Menu and Drinks

At the centre of the venue sits an open-fire kitchen led by Executive Chef Evan White. The menu focuses on charcoal, woodfire, and rotisserie cooking, with dishes designed to be shared slowly across the table.

Key menu highlights include rotisserie chicken from Golden Cockerel, slow-cooked Pyrenees lamb shoulder, wood-fired pizzas, and dry-aged duck crown. These items are meant to anchor the meal, allowing guests to enjoy a leisurely pace throughout the day.

The drinks list leans European in spirit while spotlighting Australian and New Zealand producers. A strong by-the-glass offering complements the venue’s slower pace, making it easy to stay for a second or third round.

Open Daily for All-Day Dining

The Greenhouse Newstead is now open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This all-day model taps into a growing trend in Brisbane’s dining scene for venues that function as flexible social hubs rather than strictly occasion-driven restaurants.

With the Water Terrace, open-fire kitchen, and indoor-outdoor layout working together, the venue is designed around how locals want to spend their time. It offers a calming outside venue where the focus is on the company and the food rather than a formal dining schedule.
