The Skin Bar Opens New James Street Clinic in Fortitude Valley
The Skin Bar has officially opened its doors on James Street in Fortitude Valley, marking the brand’s 12th location nationally and its second clinic in Queensland. The new venue is tucked behind the popular Sixes and Sevens pub, bringing the Sydney-founded skincare brand to the inner-city hub.
Founded by Samantha Appell in 2020 from a single treatment room in Cronulla, the business has expanded rapidly across New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland in just five years. The James Street location is now open for bookings at 65 James Street.
Signature Treatments and Local Interiors
The clinic centres its offering on skin needling, a non-surgical treatment described by the brand as “the foundation of healthier, stronger skin at every age for every skin type.” The procedure creates tiny micro-channels in the skin to stimulate collagen and elastin production, which can boost collagen levels by up to 400 per cent.
According to Style Magazines, the treatment improves skin texture, pigmentation, acne scarring, and fine lines while boosting overall firmness. It requires minimal downtime and is suitable for all skin types.
The new James Street space reflects a warm, lived-in aesthetic rather than a clinical feel. The interiors feature signature green tones and soft brown details, anchored by a silver ‘THE SKIN BAR’ sign at reception. Vintage furniture sourced from antique stores around Brisbane adds character to the room.
A Relaxed Experience for Busy Locals
Kiri Johnston, who visited the clinic for a treatment on Tuesday, described the atmosphere as inviting and moody. The experience began with 10 minutes of LED therapy designed to warm and loosen the skin before the needling component started.
Appell personally guided the session, explaining that some redness, warmth, and itchiness are normal responses. The post-treatment look was immediate, with skin appearing fresh, flushed, and clear. Johnston noted that the straightforward approach fits seamlessly into a lunch break or a quick refresh before a weekend away.
The brand has built a loyal following through its results-driven approach and understated style. In a recent social media post, Appell shared details of the fit-out process, highlighting how much of the furniture was collected locally, which helps the clinic feel established despite its recent opening.
What to Expect
Visitors can expect a relaxed environment where the treatment slots easily into a busy schedule. The clinic aims to provide a straightforward experience for those seeking brighter, smoother skin without injectables or invasive procedures.
As reported by Style Magazines, the brand is now open at 65 James Street. The clinic is positioned as a destination for intentional skincare spending in a space that feels welcoming and considered.
