How to track development applications in your Brisbane suburb

Anyone curious about what’s being built, renovated, or re-zoned on their street can check Brisbane City Council’s Development.i tool, which lists past and current development applications across the city.

The platform lets you search by address, suburb, or map area to pull up basic property information and see what permits have been lodged or approved. For residents across the city, it’s a straightforward way to check whether a neighbour’s extension, a new unit block, or a change-of-use application is in play.

Alert to changes in development applications

If you want to stay on top of DAs in a particular patch without checking the site yourself, you can register an account and save a search area. Once set up, the system sends an email notification when a new application is received or decided within that zone. It’s a low-effort way to keep an eye on a street you care about without refreshing a browser tab every few days.

You simply enter a location and browse the results.

If you’ve spotted construction on a street you don’t recognise, or you’re wondering whether an application has cleared council, Development.i is a useful place to start.
