The Brisbane Pride March is back on this Saturday, 7 November, together with the rally and Fair Day, after heavy rain forced organisers to postpone them from 24 October. The day kicks off at the corner of Ann and Brunswick Streets in Fortitude Valley and wraps up at New Farm Park, with a Fair Day that carries on well into the afternoon.
What happens and when
From 9am, community leaders, activists and allies will take to the stage for rally speeches at the Ann and Brunswick intersection, just outside the Empire Hotel.
At 10am, the Brisbane Pride March sets off from that corner and makes its way to New Farm Park.
Fair Day will already be under way when the Brisbane Pride March arrives. It opens at 10am for those not marching and runs until 5pm, with live performances, community stalls and food.
Among those joining the Brisbane Pride March is Architecture with Pride, whose Queensland committee has invited LGBTQIA+ design practitioners and their allies to join them. The group describes the march as Brisbane’s annual celebration of solidarity in gender and sexuality diversity: parade, protest and party rolled into one.
Tickets and where to buy them
Places in the Architecture with Pride marching group are available through Humanitix. Please note these are non-refundable. Humanitix gives 100 per cent of the profits from its booking fees to charity. Fair Day tickets are sold separately through Brisbane Pride, and children under 12 get in free with a paying adult.
Know before you go
The event takes place in Meanjin, on the traditional country of the Jugera and Turrbal peoples. The start is at the corner of Ann and Brunswick Streets, Fortitude Valley (QLD 4006), and the finish is New Farm Park in New Farm. Architecture with Pride’s listing runs from 9am to 12pm AEST, but Fair Day itself continues until 5pm. Fortitude Valley station is a short walk from the rally point, and some streets will be closed for the march. Fair Day’s entry and bar areas are cashless, but bring some cash anyway, as a few stallholders may not take cards.
