Fortitude Valley Influencer Arrested During Live Broadcast
A controversial Brisbane influencer was arrested by police just after midnight on Sunday, 26 April, in Fortitude Valley while broadcasting live to his followers. Ronan Androgenic, 25, was taken into custody despite being surrounded by his own security team during the incident.
The arrest relates to an altercation that occurred in February, which was also captured on camera while Androgenic was livestreaming to his audience. As reported by 7NEWS, the incident has drawn attention to a dangerous subculture gaining traction on social media.
“The Situation Is F***ed”: Live Reaction
Androgenic addressed his viewers directly as police moved in, describing the unfolding chaos with alarm. “The situation’s f***ed. Guys, the situation is f***ed,” he told the stream during the arrest.
He later confirmed the gravity of the event to his audience. “I was arrested. This is serious business,” he said. The 25-year-old was removed from the scene and taken into custody over the February altercation.
Looksmaxxing Culture Under Fire
Androgenic has emerged as a rising figure within a community focused on extreme beauty improvement, a trend known as “looksmaxxing”. He provides methods for young men to alter their appearance, including so-called “bonesmashing” to reshape facial features.
His content also promotes plastic surgery and the use of peptides. Yves Saint James Aquino of the University of Wollongong condemned the subculture, noting links to the so-called “manosphere” which promotes toxic masculinity and misogyny.
Aquino warned of the risks involved in these practices. “It’s dangerous in as much as any kind of body modification is dangerous,” Aquino said.
Aquino noted that participants in this movement feel a sense of control over their physical features. “They feel that physical features are something that they can now control,” he said.
Penalties and Nightlife Ban
Following the incident, Androgenic was fined for public nuisance. Authorities also issued a ban preventing him from entering Fortitude Valley’s nightlife precinct for 28 days.
The arrest highlights the growing tension between online influencers promoting extreme lifestyle changes and local laws regarding public order in Brisbane’s inner-city suburbs.
